Woman Struck By Jeep At Busy Lake Ronkonkoma Intersection

A woman suffered serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle at a busy Long Island intersection.

The incident happened around 6:15 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6 in Lake Ronkonkoma.

The woman was walking southbound on Hawkins Avenue when she was struck by a 2019 Jeep Renegade that was attempting to turn right on Express Drive North, Suffolk County Police said.

The victim, a 52-year-old Ronkonkoma resident, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

The driver of the Jeep, a 73-year-old Lake Ronkonkoma man, was not injured.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452.
